About the Cambodian Community Dream Organisation (UK)
THE Cambodian Community Dream Organisation UK (CCDO UK) works to improve conditions in Cambodia by implementing a hygiene programme by digging wells for clean drinking water and building latrines. We also support Kiriminoun School, near Siem Reap.
The Cambodian Child’s Dream Organisation was first founded in Cambodia in 2007 by a local tour guide with the sole object of building water wells. But after visiting Cambodia and donating her first water well, Jenni Lipa quickly realised that the children hold the key to the country’s future. She believed that they deserve not only clean drinking water, but a good education, better nutrition and improved health as well. Jenni spearheaded many new programs and initiatives and eventually registered Cambodian Child’s Dream Organisation as a US-based charity. Their website can be found here.
Cambodia endured a genocide during the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot era resulting in an estimated 2 million deaths or the equivalent of 25% of the population between 1975 and 1979. Every family lost at least one member and today 65% of the population is under the age of 25. Poverty is widespread and yet, being very proud and hardworking, the Cambodians do whatever it takes to make ends meet. But many families in the rural areas earn less than $2 per day and cannot afford to build their own drinking water wells or even send their children to school.
CCDO UK was started by Mrs Margaret Jarman in 2011. CCDO UK is now led by Scott J Brown CBE and Colin Fleming. They are committed to raising funds for CCDO UK.
In line with the rest of the worldwide CCDO family, the name changed to Cambodian Community Dream Organisation UK in July 2016. CCDO UK is a registered charity in the United Kingdom, number 1145078.
if you donate £220 for a well, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or use the Contact Form at the bottom of this page with the wording you would like on the sign board by your well. You can see examples in the Gallery photographs below. Once your well is completed we will send you some photographs of your well together with some information on the families who benefitted. But of course smaller donations are always very welcome too.
Thank you to two of our donors for new latrines. Two Cambodian families now have hygienic toilet facilities which will benefit their health and wellbeing. Thank you!
Thank you to our donors in Wales and Australia for their donation of two new latrines.
We have supported Kiriminoun School with $2500 USD so far this year! Our money helps fund our education programme, helps give the children a nutritious breakfast and will buy equipment for the school and uniforms for the children. Thank you to all our donors who have made this possible.
